These last few months have been difficult while I’ve been recovering from a full knee replacement (aftermath of a skiing accident long ago) which meant several weeks in hospital and rehab, plus intensive rehab since – but at last I’m feeling ‘normal’. And I have so many good things to look forward to, starting with Writers Unleashed, the Sutherland Shire Writers Festival, this coming Saturday (19th August.)  I’m doing a presentation on ‘Ideas and how to develop them into stories’ and, with reference to some of my books, I’ll talk about such things as ‘walking the walk’ as part of background research, along with other research tools, but I’ll also talk about story craft and building scenarios to grip and hold a reader’s interest. The festival is on at the Gymea Tradies Club and everyone is welcome. You can find the full programme and see the star-studded line up on http://shirewritersfestival/weebly/com/festival-program.html. Looking forward to meeting some South Sydney-siders there!  With Children’s Book Week coming up, I’ll also be kept busy with multiple school visits and I’m really looking forward to getting out and meeting students at both primary and secondary level again – it’s been a while! Plus there are a few other writers’ festivals coming up on the horizon – so watch this space!!
